Choose the Right Therapy for Your Spine

Each modality addresses a different mechanical or neurological problem. Dr. Lam will recommend the right combination after your initial assessment.

Spinal Adjustment

Manual correction of vertebral misalignment. Restores joint motion, relieves nerve compression, and improves spinal symmetry.

Best for: acute and chronic neck/back pain, headaches, joint stiffness, postural imbalance.

Spinal Decompression

Computerized traction protocol that gently elongates the spine, creating negative pressure to draw bulging or herniated disc material away from nerves.

Best for: herniated discs, sciatica, lumbar disc degeneration.

Shockwave Therapy

Extracorporeal acoustic pulses delivered through the skin. Stimulates blood flow, breaks up calcified deposits, and accelerates soft-tissue healing.

Best for: calcific tendonitis, chronic shoulder/elbow/knee pain, plantar fasciitis.

Spinal Adjustment (脊椎矯正)

Spinal adjustment is a precise, controlled force applied by hand to a specific vertebral segment that has lost normal motion or alignment. The goal is to restore that joint's natural range, relieve compression on the adjacent nerve, and remove the mechanical irritation that often drives chronic pain.

Every adjustment is preceded by a full postural and neurological exam. Dr. Lam adjusts only the segments that need it — she does not manipulate joints that are already moving correctly.

What it addresses

  • Acute and chronic neck pain and back pain
  • Cervicogenic headaches, tension headaches, and dizziness
  • Pinched nerves and radiating arm or leg symptoms
  • Postural overload from desk work or repetitive activity
  • Joint stiffness, reduced range of motion, mid-back tightness

Most patients feel a measurable change in mobility and pain after the first three to six sessions, depending on the chronicity and complexity of the condition.

Spinal Decompression Therapy (脊椎神經減壓)

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical, computerized form of traction. The patient lies on a programmable table and is gently elongated along the axis of the spine in carefully measured cycles. This creates a small negative pressure inside the disc — the same disc that may be bulging, herniated, or pinching a nerve root.

The result, over a course of sessions, is that disc material is drawn back into place, intradiscal hydration improves, and pressure on the surrounding nerves is reduced. Many patients with sciatica and lumbar disc herniation see meaningful relief without the need for injections or surgery.

What it addresses

  • Herniated and bulging lumbar or cervical discs
  • Sciatica — radiating leg pain, numbness, or tingling
  • Degenerative disc disease and disc thinning
  • Facet syndrome and chronic low back pain
  • Failed conservative care that didn't fully resolve symptoms

Sessions are quiet, gentle, and most patients describe them as a controlled stretch — not painful. A typical course is recommended based on imaging review and clinical examination.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (體外震波治療)

Shockwave therapy uses focused acoustic pressure waves delivered through the skin — no incision, no medication. The acoustic energy stimulates micro-circulation, breaks down calcified deposits in tendons, and triggers the body's natural soft-tissue repair response.

It is particularly effective for chronic tendon and joint conditions that have not responded to rest, anti-inflammatories, or basic physical therapy.

What it addresses

  • Calcific tendonitis of the shoulder and elbow
  • Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow
  • Chronic knee pain, patellar tendonitis, "jumper's knee"
  • Plantar fasciitis and chronic heel pain
  • Trigger points and stubborn myofascial tightness

A typical course is 4 to 8 weekly sessions. Each session is short and most patients return to normal activity immediately afterward.

What Happens at Your First Visit

A structured four-step intake — designed so you leave knowing what's wrong and what's next.

1

History & Symptoms

We listen first. When did the pain begin, what makes it better or worse, how has it changed over time.

2

Postural & Neurological Exam

Range of motion, palpation, reflex and neurological testing — to identify the level and type of involvement.

3

Diagnosis & Plan

You'll receive a plain-language explanation of what's happening and a treatment plan with checkpoints.

4

Treatment & Home Care

First treatment session if appropriate, plus written home-care instructions in English or Chinese.

How Chiropractic Care Works

The spine houses the nerves that connect the brain to every organ, muscle, and joint in the body. When vertebrae shift out of alignment — from injury, posture, repetitive stress, or degeneration — they can compress nearby nerves and trigger pain, numbness, weakness, and even autonomic symptoms like headaches or elevated blood pressure.

Chiropractic care addresses this mechanically. By restoring proper alignment and mobility, we relieve the nerve compression at its source — allowing the body's own systems to recover.

  • Non-surgical, drug-free treatment
  • Targets the mechanical cause of pain, not just the symptom
  • Combines manual, computerized, and acoustic-wave modalities
